Pat Moir is a veritable treasure trove of horse knowledge, encompassing both the practical and classical applications.  Pat amassed this knowledge over a lifetime of diligent study, formal training and experience.

Coupled with the rare ability to impart this knowledge withour ever seeming to disparage even the newest beginner, Pat is able to help you achieve confidence and newfound or renewed faith in your horse and your riding.

I found myself at age 71 owning a big, young, and largely inexperienced Kentucky Mountain Horse mare.  Altho I am a lifelong avid trail rider, my confidence in my riding ability was soon seriously shaken to the point I was apprehensive about riding her at all, even tho the mare is uncommonly sweet and kind.  And, altho Kentucky Mountain Horses are a gaited breed, she did not gait for me at all.  Fortunately for me, Pat was able to fit us into her very busy schedule, and soon had this mare and I on the same page, happily gaiting down the trail.  I think the mare and I were both grinning.

Pat is a storehouse of knowledge regarding many disciplines, be it jumping, driving, gaiting, safe trailer loading or even proper and safe trail etiquette for both horse and rider.

Pat is very good with older riders, beginners of any age, and anyone who wants to deepen their partnership with their horse.  From proper saddle fit and bitting to developing a better relationship with your horse thru proper riding techniques, Pat can expertly take you as far as you wish to go.

Riding Clinic
My husband and I purchased horses 16 months ago with no idea how to ride (properly) or take care of them.  Ms. Moir has been a God send with her vast knowledge of horse behaviors and conditioning to ground work and exercises for the rider as well as the horses.  She understands both the individual riders needs as well as that of the horse.  My husband is a get up and go kind of rider and I am more a conservative deliberate rider; she works with both of us (as individuals) to increase our skill levels and confidence.

Pat Moir is outstanding at what she does and I encourage everyone to use her as a resource whether they are a novice or professional rider.  She can offer sound advise on whatever issue a horse or rider is having.

Pat Moir really came to the rescue with the training of my young Tennessee Walking Horse Amber.    I needed someone to teach both of us how to gait.  First we had to get Amber to learn the gait and then I had to learn the tools to help her gait while in the saddle.  Amber spent a month in training with Pat.  First Pat had her behavior able habits to work with so that she could move forward with her training.  Amber had many new experiences while in training that has helped her to be a better horse.

Pat gave me invaluable skills to continue her work after she came home and we are happily gaiting down the trails now.  She is a great trainer and is always a lesson or a phone call away when we need help.  I am looking forward to taking more lessons and to start working on her canter.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you  know how much I appreciate your being my trainer for a number of years.     Your knowledge, professionalism, dedication to safety  and overall attention to detail was really great.   I truly excelled in my abilities as a result of your coaching and our time together is one of the most rewarding in my equestrian life.

Kindest thanks,

:)

I have known Pat Moir for several years now, first as a friend and riding companion, and second as a riding instructor/horse trainer.

Pat is one of the most knowledgeable horsewomen I know of.   She is very familiar with the anatomy of the horse and what actions cause what reactions.  She taught me so much about how to talk horse language with my horse, what actions to take to get the reaction that I desired.  I was constantly amazed at how well it always worked.  She is an excellent instructor, and tells you every step of the way what you and or your horse are doing, and how to correct it, right there in the field.  A lot of instructors or trainers just ride the horse themselves, and correct the problem, but Pat's goal is that the rider must also learn and know how to fix these problems when on the trail by themselves or riding with a group.  Her main goal is to create a safe relationship between horse and rider.

Pat's skills and been honed from many years riding and training, and taking instructions herself from some of the best horse people in the world.

She would be a great asset to any kind of riding program.

Sincerely,
Barbara Ford
